THIS, hopefully, is My interview with Ray. We talk about cancer, a new love from an old friendship, and music.
I sure hope this works :o)

Blogger doesn't like audio either...

Learning curve is bending back over my head...

Back to Movie Maker

Forgot I was on here...

It's my hope that I can use Blogger as a tool to post my chat-interview, possibly future, podcast. I'm in the beginning stages of this project and I'm on a rather steep learning curve. It seems eevry time I get an idea, something pops up to hinder my progress.
I contacted a few friends on Facebook asking if they would like to participate. I got immediate responces that were positive and I jumped straight onto Skype for a chat. I recorded three. I reacorded these chats from Skype using Skype MP3 recorder. It's free. And it records in MP3 format which is good.
I naively said I wanted to put these up here raw, as little aditing as possible. An intro and maybe an outtro, maybe some catchy music. I have Audacity to do this. Good program and it, yes, it's free! But, it edits in it's own sound file thingie, whachamacallit.
I listened to the first chat. Just how many times is it possible for a Big Hairy Beast to say "uuuhhhmmm" in 45 minutes? I'l tell you, enough to cut 15 minutes out of the chat! No joke!
Learning curve getting steeper.
So I finish editing and now I need to change it from the Audacity file to an MP3 file. I click on "convert to MP3" button. A window pops up saying audacity only converts to a WAVE file and that I need to download a program called LAME to convert it directly to MP3. I find LAME and download it... along with a whole bunch of add-ons. Man, I thought I was smarter the this!
Learning curve obliterates horizone.
OK, so, after I get rid of ALL those add ons... I convert my Audacity file to a Wave file. This, Audacity will do, free, no charge. Now I have to convert it to an MP3 file. Enter Itunes.
Itunes is free, too.
Learning curves are steep and free.
After converting it three times and finally finding the file, and deleting the two copies, I save the file to my highly organized filing system. Seriously, it is! Now to upload it to Facebook. Can not upload an MP3 file to Facebook. It doesn't like MP3, I guess. I don't know. I know I'll upload it to Youtube! YouTUBE... TUBE being the operative word. I need to add some kind of visuals. I get 20 photos from Ray's page and open Windows Movie Maker and get everything ready and add the photos to the MP3 to make a video, of sorts. Slide show? Those 20 photos take up all of 40 seconds of a 30 minute MP3. OK, I start copying and pasting and damn, this is going to take forever and the other two chats are over an hour and a half and ...
I have to figure out another way...
Back to Youtube. Have I mentioned that they have fantastic recipes on Youtube?
I'm easily distracted...
Why did I want to start a "sort of" podcast?
I find some tutorials on podcasting and find out about Blogger.com.
And... the learning curve continues...
